Callum Devine received an unexpected bonus following the recent Todds Leap Ulster Rally when it was confirmed that the Claudy youngster is the recipient of a free entry to this year’s Wales Rally GB.

The prize, which is part of the Road to Wales incentive, was drawn from the class winners on the Fermanagh based Ulster Rally and ensures Devine’s Opel Adam will be joining the world’s best drivers over the three day North Wales based event.

Devine, and his co-driver Keith Moriarty, won class A2 and finished 9th overall on the Todds Leap Ulster Rally in the little 1600 cc Opel Adam ahead of a host of more powerful machinery. Speaking after being told of the prize, Callum said,

“I’m over the moon to get this entry for Wales Rally GB. I haven’t done much gravel rallying so far but it’s too great an opportunity to pass up and it’s really appreciated!”

Callum added, “I haven’t got a gravel kit for the Opel Adam yet but it’s put a push on to look about one now”.

Wales Rally GB is the highlight of the UK rallying calendar and is renowned around the globe as one of the most famous and challenging in the WRC. It’s one of only two events that have remained a permanent fixture since the WRC’s inception in 1973 and the timed competitive special stages set in the legendary Welsh forests are acclaimed as some of the world’s finest.

Introduced in 2013, the Road to Wales gives Britain’s best rallying talent free entries into Wales Rally GB, offering them the opportunity to compete against the best in the WRC on the world stage.
