The Northern Ireland Motor Club is delighted to confirm that Ireland’s largest tyre retailer – Modern Tyres will continue as title partner for the Ulster Rally, reinforcing their ongoing commitment to one of Northern Ireland’s most iconic motorsport events.
The renewed partnership sees Modern Tyres extend their support into a sixth exciting chapter, building on a successful six year history together and underpinning a period of continued growth and international recognition for the event.
The 2026 Modern Tyres Ulster International Rally promises to be a landmark occasion, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the rally and already there is so much to look forward to next year. For the first time, the 2026 event will be staged from Ballymena, bringing a fresh location and renewed excitement for competitors and spectators alike. Ballymena’s scenic and highly challenging roads will set the scene for a truly memorable anniversary rally.
In a major boost for the sport, the Ulster Rally has also been confirmed on the official 2026 FIA European Historic Rally Championship (EHRC) calendar. This prestigious inclusion by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) recognises the rally’s status, heritage and the quality of competition it offers, and will see historic Pre-2000 rally cars compete on Northern Irish stages alongside national and international crews from the action-packed Irish Tarmac Championship.
Rory Byrne, Director Modern Tyres said:
“We are delighted to continue our long-standing association with the Ulster Rally, particularly as the event heads into such a significant milestone, with the 50th anniversary in 2026. The Ulster Rally has always represented the very best of motorsport in Northern Ireland, and we’re proud to support an event that continues to evolve and grow. We would also like to congratulate the organising team on securing a round on the FIA European Historic Rally Championship calendar, which is a tremendous achievement and further enhances the rally’s international standing.”
Clerk of the Course, Wayne Turkington said:
“We’re thrilled that Modern Tyres will remain our title partner – their ongoing support has been a cornerstone of the Ulster Rally’s success. With the 50th anniversary event moving to Ballymena and now part of the FIA European Historic Rally Championship calendar, 2026 promises to be a spectacular year for everyone involved. These developments underline the rally’s growing stature and strength – and we look forward to putting on another spectacular event in August next year.”
