The countdown to the 2026 Modern Tyres Ulster Rally continues, with the landmark 50th anniversary event now just over two weeks away. Crews are preparing to tackle six spectacular closed-road stages, each run twice, across the Causeway Coast and Mid & East Antrim on 7–8 August.
This year’s route features some of Northern Ireland’s most iconic rally stages, including Torr Head, Knockboy, Glendun, Tardee, Cairncastle and Slemish.
With the stage names now revealed, excitement is building for what promises to be one of the most memorable editions in the rally’s 50-year history.
The 2026 rally marks an exciting new era, with the event based in Mid & East Antrim. Ballymena Showgrounds will serve as Rally HQ, Service Park, Media Centre, Fan Zone and the location for the opening ceremony and finish. The move north also sees the return of some of the region’s most iconic roads, creating a fitting route for this landmark anniversary event.
Fans will have the opportunity to get closer than ever to the action, with Castle Tower School hosting the official Regroup on both Friday and Saturday. It’s the perfect chance to see the cars up close, meet the crews and experience the unique atmosphere away from the stages.
The rally continues to attract international attention in 2026, with rounds of both the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship and the FIA European Historic Rally Championship, bringing together the latest Rally2 machinery alongside some of the most iconic historic rally cars ever built.
Adding to the celebrations, the atmosphere will begin to build at the opening ceremony on Thursday 6 August, where the leading crews will gather before the competition begins. Spectators can enjoy a free evening of entertainment featuring the rally cars, interviews with the stars, a live DJ and official rally merchandise, setting the scene perfectly for the two days of competition ahead.
Also new for 2026, the Motorsport UK-supported Girls on Track UK initiative will host a special event at Ballymena Showgrounds on Friday, introducing more young women to opportunities within motorsport as part of the FIA’s global programme.
