The Modern Tyres Ulster Rally returns on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 August 2026, bringing two days of exciting rally action to the roads around Ballymena.
As we prepare to celebrate the rally’s 50th anniversary, we want everyone attending the event to enjoy the action while helping us to keep spectators, competitors, marshals and local communities safe.
Rally cars can approach quickly and may not always follow the expected line through a corner or junction. Choosing a safe place to watch, remaining alert and following the instructions of marshals are essential throughout the event.
Always expect the unexpected. Stay in designated spectator areas and follow the instructions of rally marshals.
Plan before you arrive
Before travelling to a stage, please check the official spectator information and allow enough time to reach your chosen viewing location safely.
- Use the designated spectator access routes
- Park only in a safe and permitted location
- Do not block roads, gateways or emergency access
- Wear suitable footwear and clothing for the conditions
- Allow additional time for walking to the spectator area
Choose a safe place to watch
Spectators should remain within official spectator areas and behind any barriers, tape or signage provided by the organisers.
- Never stand on the road or within the stage
- Do not stand on the outside of a corner
- Keep well back from junctions, braking areas and escape roads
- Do not stand below road level or directly in front of solid objects
- Keep children under close supervision
- Keep dogs and other animals away from the stage
Always expect the unexpected
Even the most experienced competitors can encounter unexpected conditions. Rally cars may:
- Run wide on corners
- Cut across the inside of corners
- Overshoot junctions
- Throw stones, mud or other debris
- Leave the road altogether
Always think about where a car could travel if the driver loses control. A location that appears safe when the road is quiet may not be safe when a rally car arrives at competition speed.
Listen to the marshals
Our volunteer marshals are positioned throughout the rally to help protect spectators and ensure the safe running of the event. Please follow their instructions immediately and respectfully.
If a marshal asks you to move, it is because they believe your current position is unsafe. Never argue with a marshal or enter an area that has been closed to spectators.
