A superb performance from Alastair Fisher & Gordon Noble in a Ford Fiesta R5 saw them net maximum points with second overall in the Cartell.ie International Rally of the Lakes. They finished just under a minute behind rally winner Donagh Kelly and the result sees them move into the lead of the Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Championship. Third place was enough to move Sam Moffett up to second in the series despite a puncture early on the second day which put him too far behind Fisher to seriously challenge the Fermanagh driver. An excellent drive to fourth place for Stephen Wright is enough to move him into third overall in the championship.
Group N was won by David Guest in a Mitsubishi Lancer which extended his lead in the series while Callum Devine out in a stunning performance to finish eighth overall in his Opel Adam and move back into a clear lead in the 2WD championship. The Modified championship sees Eugene Meegan finally end his run of bad luck to take maximum points to move back into contention, while Jack Newman who was making his first championship appearance of the season was an excellent second place. With erstwhile championship leaders Ross Marshall & Dave Robson crashing out of the event, Davy Armstrong provisionally leads the series after four rounds by two points from Marshall.
Frank Cunningham took victory in the Historic category and as a result extended his lead in the Historic championship while the Junior category was won by Kieran O’Donoghue who takes maximum points for this round in his Honda Civic as Justin Ryan maintains his overall championship lead after a good result in Killarney.
